The project is helping the National Agency for the Information Society (ANSI) in Niger bring public services closer to citizens and companies using digital technology.
Using digital technology to transform the administration and make it more effective, efficient, transparent and accountable is one of the lines of development of the Republic of Niger under its Niger 2.0 Strategic Plan.
Electronic public services considerably reduce the administrative burden on companies and citizens and facilitate their interactions with public authorities. Integrating the use of digital technologies into strategies to modernise administrations can generate economic and social benefits for society as a whole.
At the same time, innovation and the transformation of the public administration using digital technology can become a driver for the inclusion and mobilisation of young people.
Assisting the Niger authorities with the reform towards e-government
Since November 2019, Expertise France has been assisting the Nigerien authorities with the reform towards e-government with financing from Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
The project’s main objectives are to provide operational support to the National Agency for the Information Society (ANSI) for the management of the Government’s digital projects and the implementation of pilot programmes for the development of e-government.
It involves supporting the commitment of the Government of Niger to bring public services closer to its citizens and companies using digital technology, by including the various ongoing digital initiatives and thereby achieving ambitious results with rapid impacts.
A collaborative approach
Through a participatory and mobilising approach, the project has gathered French expertise and expertise from Niger’s diaspora and stakeholders in the local ecosystem. Collaborative work throughout the project has made it possible to share experience targeting activities with development potential by implementing methodologies (a public innovation programme, the first version of the public service portal).
Since 2019, the project has been supporting ANSI’s work in the following specific areas:
- Assistance with the management of digital projects;
- Creation of a national public service portal;
- Digital innovation in administrations through the implementation of the Niger Public Interest Entrepreneurs Programme (EIG.ne).
