This information notice applies to all processing activities carried out under the responsibility of Expertise France, one of the entities of the AFD group, in the context of its activities.
Expertise France gives the utmost importance to the protection of your personal data. The objective of this information notice is to help you understand the processing activities carried out on your personal data.
Context of the processing of personal data
Expertise France only processes personal data for specific purposes. To ensure the transparency of the processing, we share the list of the main purposes of AFD processing activities, the legal basis of such processing and the categories of personal data collected for such purposes.
For how long do we keep your data?
We have defined and put in place specific rules regarding the retention of your personal data. To define such period, we have taken into account the different purposes for which the data is collected, the applicable legal and regulatory obligations, as well as sectorial best practices. Such retention periods do not exceed what is necessary to accomplish the processing operation.
Who has access to your data?
Your data is only accessed by Expertise France employees that need access to carry out their tasks.
When necessary, personal data may be communicated to partners and suppliers. The sharing of your personal data will only take place to carry out the purposes previously indicated.
When possible and the nature of the processing activity admits it, personal data will be anonymized before transmitting to third parties.
Furthermore, to satisfy statutory and regulatory obligations, we may need to communicate personal data to judicial or administrative authorities on the basis of the French communication right.
Our commitments
Our objective is to always keep your personal data in a secured way, and only for specific purposes and for the necessary time period. In this regard, we have adopted appropriate physical, technical and organizational measures to prevent any alteration, modification or illicit access to your personal data.
Expertise France does not commercialize personal data collected in the context of its activities.

In the event of transfer of personal data to a country that has not been recognized by the European Commission as assuring an adequate protection for personal data, we put in place appropriate frameworks to guarantee the protection of your personal data (ex. binding corporate rules or standard contractual clauses). Your rights
In compliance with the French data protection act (loi informatique et libertes n°78-17 du 06 janvier 1978) and the European Regulation 2016/679, you may, at any time, exercise your right to access, rectify, erase limit and object to the processing of your personal data. When applicable, you may also exercise your right to portability and limitation of the processing of your data. About our newsletter
When you register on our website to receive our newsletter, the data you enter in the registration form is to be processed for the purpose of the management of our information services.
The details of the purposes pursued are therefore as follows:
- Management of newsletter subscriptions
- Management of electronic newsletters
- Development of statistics relating to the services offered
- Occasional surveys to improve our information services
The legal basis for the processing of your data is AFD Group's legitimate interest in sharing useful information on its intellectual production as well as in promoting research and reflection on development issues, in application of Article 6.1.f of the European Data Protection Policy.
The information presented as mandatory in the registration form is required in order to send you newsletters and meet your expectations as part of your registration process.
We also collect data relating to your interaction with our emails (email open rate, clicks) in order to compile statistics on the quality of our communication. Processing does not involve automated decision-making.
We keep your email address and the information collected through the registration form for the duration of your registration.
The recipients of the data are:
- authorized staff, in charge of external communication activities within Expertise France
- authorized personnel from our service providers involved, if applicable.
To manage and send our newsletters, we use the services of Sarbacane, whose servers are located in France. Your rights result from European data protection regulations and are guaranteed in accordance with Article 46 of the GDPR, by virtue of commitments entered into by Sarbacane within the framework of the standard data protection clauses adopted by the European Commission.
