This project aims to contribute to the implementation of the Circular Economy Roadmap to enable a shift toward a greener future in the Republic of Mauritius.
A project to develop circular economy in Mauritius
In view of the environmental, social, and economic challenges faced by the Republic of Mauritius, Expertise France implements a project to support Mauritius’s Circular Economy (CE) Roadmap and Vision 2050.
We aim to enable the shift toward a circular economy, and a greener future in the country.
Strengthening institutional and regulatory frameworks
Within the framework of this project, Expertise France contributes to strengthening institutional and regulatory frameworks to enable effective implementation of the circular economy roadmap. Activities include:
- Strenghtening capacity building;
- Implementing policy reforms;
- Reinforcing stakeholder engagement across Mauritius and Rodrigues.
Lead by the Ministry of Environment, the dialogue with the private sector will be supported, creating an enabling environment for the circular economy in both islands.
The built environment: a key sector in the roadmap
Some initiatives specifically target the built environment value chain, a key pillar of the roadmap. Particular attention is paid to women entrepreneurs to demonstrate the benefits of the circular economy for both the private and public sectors.
At the same time, we bring support to the coordinating association of Mauritian businesses, Business Mauritius, to foster stakeholder dialogue and knowledge sharing creating therefore sustainable synergies between government, industry, academia, and civil society in support of well-adapted policies.
Enhancing collaboration between all these stakeholders is a key factor of a more inclusive and sustainable future for the country.
