On 29 October 2025, during the Paris Peace Forum and as part of the partnership with the AFD Group, Expertise France, Proparco and AFD have organised a session at the Musée de l'Homme in Paris to explore the levers for sustainable peace through financial inclusion, women's leadership and local governance, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 ‘Women, Peace and Security’ (WPS).
On the occasion of the 8th edition of the Paris Peace Forum, the AFD Group have hosted a session entitled ‘From inclusion to influence: women as financial, social and political actors in peacebuilding’, with remarks from committed activists from the Middle East and Africa.
This session, moderated by Jérémie Pellet, CEO of Expertise France, has highlighted three key drivers of inclusive peace: access to economic resources, women's political leadership, and alignment between local initiatives and international public policies.
Three speakers have shared their experiences on the field:
- Hanadi Tutunji (Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation), on financial inclusion as a lever for resilience;
- Suzan Aref (Women Empowerment Organisation, Iraq), on institutionalising the FPS agenda;
- Nafissatou Idé Sadou (FAD NGO, Niger), on rebuilding community governance in a crisis context.
This session was the occasion to emphasise that women in crisis and conflict zones are not only beneficiaries of cooperation, but also key players in economic, social and political transformation. It also illustrated the AFD Group's commitment, through its tools (Minka Fund, FSOF, Expertise France), to inclusive peace driven by civil society.
« Within the Group — AFD, Proparco, and Expertise France — our mission is to support those who, on the ground, turn these principles into concrete action: strengthening institutions, supporting an inclusive private sector, and empowering civil society in its capacity for action and innovation. We are deeply convinced that peace is not a final state, but a living process based on human security, social justice, and solidarity through international cooperation efforts. »
