EnMAR Voices: A Podcast to Give Women a Voice in Maritime and Port Security
Published on
On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, the EnMAR (“Enhanced MARitime Action in the Gulf of Guinea”) programme implemented by Expertise France with European Union support highlighted the essential role of women in maritime and port security and safety through a series of podcasts.
EnMAR (Enhanced MARitime Action in the Gulf of Guinea) is a project financed by the European Union (EU) and implemented by Expertise France. Its objective is to improve maritime security and economic prosperity in the Gulf of Guinea, in support of EU initiatives.
EnMAR helps encourage political dialogue, cooperation, and exchanges with key Yaoundé Architecture partners and European and international actors, in order to develop and enhance more appropriate and effective EU action in the region. As part of the EU Maritime Strategy for the Gulf of Guinea, EnMAR’s activities increase the coherence and visibility of support to regional actors.
A series of podcasts to highlight women’s career paths
As harbour pilots, naval officers, instructors in training centres, or experts in maritime governance, women are actively involved in the security of maritime spaces in West and Central Africa. Their commitment illustrates how safety at sea also depends on inclusion and diversity of talents.
To highlight their journeys and share their experiences, EnMAR offers a series of podcasts entitled “EnMAR Voices”. The various episodes give voice to different women who, each and every day, contribute to strengthening the cooperation, training, and resilience of the maritime sector in the Gulf of Guinea.
