One Health Discovery Village: a fun space for learning, raising awareness and meeting people on the sidelines of the One Health Summit in Lyon on 7 April 2026.
One Health Discovery Village
Organised by Expertise France, in close partnership with the Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères, and with the support of the city of Lyon, the One Health Discovery Village took place in Lyon on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 April 2026 at the Parc de la Tête d’Or (allée de la Ceinture).
Open to families, young people and the general public, the Village aimed to make the One Health approach tangible and accessible. This approach is based on a core principle: the interdependence between human health, animal health and ecosystem health. The Village welcomed more than 20.000 people!
As the central thread of the event, The Hunt for the Living World’s Superpowers has offered a large educational Easter egg hunt throughout the park. This interactive journey invited participants to explore, in an engaging and accessible way, the connections between the three pillars of One Health. Prizes were awarded to the 500 participants who completed the course.
The Village has brought together around 16 stands from public institutions, non-governmental organizations and civil society actors, along with a dedicated stage program. Educational games, participatory workshops, collaborative murals, short talks and themed activities animated these two days, with a shared objective: to spark the One Health mindset, raise awareness of global health challenges and encourage collective commitment to sustainable and integrated health.

CLARA is the recognised gateway to an exceptionally rich innovation ecosystem that places regional territories at the forefront of cancer research in Europe.
Schools facing the greatest challenges of the 21st century - Cap au Nord is a non-profit organisation founded in 2019 by Philippe Nicolas, a teacher and researcher in education sciences. Nowadays, it is a dynamic ecosystem comprising:
- 4 pioneering regions
- 71 association members
- 10 researchers involved.
The National Health Insurance Fund for Employees (CNAM) is a public administrative institution whose mission is to provide solidarity-based health insurance and define health insurance policy in France at the national level. Its role is to steer, coordinate and advise the local organisations that make up its network, in particular the primary health insurance funds (CPAM) and the five general social security funds.
The Léon Bérard Centre is a hospital specialising in oncology and serves as the cancer centre for Lyon and the Rhône-Alpes region. The Léon Bérard Centre is a member of UNICANCER, the national federation of cancer centres.
Cerema, the public authority for regional planning, supports the State, local authorities and businesses in adapting regions to climate change. It reports to the Ministries responsible for regional planning and ecological transition.
The Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD) is the French organisation for agricultural research and international cooperation for sustainable development in tropical and Mediterranean regions.
Agronomes & Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (AVSF) is an international solidarity association recognised as being of public utility. Agronomes & Vétérinaires Sans Frontières mobilises the skills of professionals in agriculture, livestock farming, animal health and local development.
VetAgro Sup – Institute of Higher Education and Research in Food, Animal Health, Agricultural Sciences and the Environment – is a higher education and research institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty.
The international PREZODE initiative: Launched at the One Planet Summit on biodiversity in January 2021, on the initiative of INRAE, IRD and CIRAD, and now supported by nearly 170 partners, including 15 governments, PREZODE places animal, human and environmental health research at the heart of global efforts to better understand, prevent, monitor and detect the risks of zoonotic pandemics in a timely manner.

EID@Lyon is a university research school (EUR) part of France's 2030 ‘Investments for the Future’ programme, modelled on graduate schools and bringing together higher education institutions and research organisations. EID@Lyon aims to provide training in transdisciplinarity through practice, using a ‘One Health’ approach, in the field of infectious diseases in Lyon. Building on disciplinary expertise, it offers an innovative method of reflection and creative openness to holistically understand the complexity of infectious diseases – from the molecular to the socio-ecosystem level.
The University of Toulouse graduate school of Emerging Infectious Diseases (UNITEID) is an academic programme of excellence dedicated to emerging infectious diseases (EIDs).
The Sustainable Health for All Foundation was created on 1 September 2020 in Lyon, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its aim is to increase dialogue and innovative projects between public and private partners in favour of sustainable health for all. This is part of a collaborative and inclusive action, without borders, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030).

The Veterinary and Agronomic Expertise in Wildlife (EVAAS) division is part of VetAgro Sup. It offers collective multidisciplinary scientific expertise in the field of wildlife health. This expertise covers native and exotic wildlife, both free-roaming and captive.
The City of Lyon is an official partner of the Village des Découvertes, supported by Expertise France.
One Health Summit
On World Health Day, 7 April 2026, France is organising the One Health Summit in Lyon, bringing together heads of state and government and a wide range of stakeholders (international and regional organisations, the private sector, researchers, civil society, local authorities, young people, etc.).
The strategic themes of the Summit are divided into two main components:
- Communicable diseases (zoonotic and vector-borne infectious diseases; antimicrobial resistance).
- Non-communicable diseases and environmental factors (exposure to pollution; nutrition and sustainable food systems).
The Summit will be structured around:
- A high-level segment between heads of state and government;
- Multi-stakeholder thematic sessions, attended by ministers;
- Partner events in Lyon, including the Village des Découvertes, open to the general public;
- A One Health Festival (30 March – 12 April) in France and internationally, bringing together certified events.
