Work with us at HQ or in the field

Expertise France is France’s international development cooperation agency. As such, we carry out technical cooperation projects in over 140 countries. Our people are committed, united and driven.
Our teams come from a variety of backgrounds. We value this diversity of career path, as it helps us deepen our understanding of the countries where we operate. We offer a range of employment opportunities for technical experts and project managers. There are also numerous roles at our Paris headquarters within the Operations Division or in cross-functional positions.
Assignments, job openings and contract types
We carry out engineering assignments and project execution in the field of capacity building. We deploy technical experts and we act as a project coordinator, combining public sector expertise with private sector know-how.
If you’re looking to join us, several options are available:
- Working at headquarters: We hire for permanent and fixed-term roles at our Paris HQ and strive to offer a high-quality employee experience through our remote work policy, modern office spaces, work-life balance, and over 45 days of annual leave. Our agile recruitment process led by our hiring managers and recruitment team is designed to provide applicants with the most information and materials as possible.
- Working in the field: Because we have a strong in-country presence and have recently decentralised our agency, field positions account for more than 60% of our workforce.
We operate in over 140 countries, recruiting professionals for project management roles, short- and long-term technical assignments, as well as support and managerial functions, particularly in our project support units and in-country offices.
Depending on the role and assignment, expatriate staff are hired under either outsourcing contracts or fixed-term contracts. Many of our people are locally recruited, either directly or through umbrella companies.
As part of our efforts to stimulate the development cooperation sector, we also work with young professionals through the International Volunteering in Administration (VIA) programme. - Working as an International Technical Expert (ITE): Our agency is also responsible for managing France’s network of ITEs. We regularly recruit experts to strengthen the technical capacity of our international partners to meet highly specific technical needs.
Our commitments as an employer
We are committed to upholding strong values as an employer:
- Diversity and inclusion in our projects: As an inclusive employer, we consider it one of our strengths that we employ 80 different nationalities across our varied projects around the world. Our teams are based at headquarters in Paris, across 11 in-country offices, and in the countries where we carry out our projects. We employ nearly 900 people at HQ and more than 1,500 in the field.
- Strong gender equality standards: We are firmly committed to gender equality in the workplace and have consistently scored 94 out of 100 on the Gender Equality Index – well above the legally required minimum score of 75. This reflects our agency’s unwavering commitment and exemplary performance in promoting gender equality among our teams.
- Training as a springboard for professional growth: We strive to support our employees in identifying and consolidating their strengths, skills and areas for improvement. We offer a robust training programme and an ambitious upskilling policy. On average, our staff complete three training courses and over 20 hours of continuing professional development a year. And these figures continue to grow year on year in response to the evolving needs of both HQ and field teams.
