The aim of the Goin’ Digital project is to accelerate digital transformation, stimulate the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and position Senegal as a regional digital hub.
Goin’ Digital: boosting Senegalese institutions in the field of the digital economy
The main objective of the Goin’ Digital project is to promote an inclusive digital economy for all people in Senegal by strengthening public and private institutions.
The project’s three action priorities are:
- governance, implemented by GIZ;
- innovation, implemented by Expertise France;
- inclusion, implemented by GIZ.
Expertise France action to support entrepreneurship and innovation
Expertise France is focusing on implementation of the Goin’ Digital project’s second priority action. Our overall objective is to strengthen the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem in order to catalyse opportunities for its development and the creation of decent jobs, targeting women and young people in particular.
To this end, our actions include:
- training public actors in artificial intelligence, with a focus on open government;
- supporting 20 start-ups in the development of innovative AI products/solutions and geospatial data;
- structuring a State start-up programme.
A major lever for Senegal’s digital transformation
Senegal is reaching a new level in its digital transition with the launch of the Goin’ Digital project, a strategic initiative aligned with the New Technological Deal, the Senegalese government’s new strategy to accelerate digital transformation. This project is part of an ambitious drive to stimulate the country’s economic and social development through innovative digital solutions.
Goin’ Digital rounds out existing national policies by providing concrete responses to the challenges of digital transformation. The initiative strengthens private-sector competitiveness and position Senegal as a key player in the digital economy at the regional level.
The project will draw on the experiences and proven approaches of previous initiatives in order to build on past achievements, effectively continue the actions already underway, and maximise their impact on the economic and social fabric. With Goin’ Digital, Senegal is giving itself the means to become a successful digital transition model in West Africa.
