Central African Republic
From 2016 to 2019, Expertise France was commissioned by the European Union to implement the project "Recovery and stabilisation in the Central African Republic". The pilot approach of this project has resulted in lessons and good practices that may be pursued and replicated in other regions in the future.

Ranked 226th out of 228 according to the Human Development Index (HDI), the Central African Republic is one of the poorest of the least developed countries. Funded by the European Union Fund for the Central African Republic, Bêkou Fund, the project "Recovery and stabilisation in the CAR" was initiated following the successive political and military crises that gave rise to discontinuities in terms of development. The project has been supporting the stabilisation and rehabilitation of the administration, society and economy for just over three years.

Responsible for the implementation of this project, Expertise France has chosen to leave the capital and offer activities in other areas, especially in region No. 2 whose capital is Berberati. They have been divided into three complementary parts:

Restoring State presence in the regions by redeploying the administration (training, construction and rehabilitation of administrative buildings...);

Promoting dialogue and the involvement of society to help mitigate the social consequences of the 2012-2013 crisis (access to rights, support for community radio, strengthening of local consultation frameworks...);

Supporting economic recovery in the regions (support for local decision-makers, financing of micro-projects...).
