On 8 April 2019, a seminar was held to celebrate the vote on the State Organic Budget Law (LOB), which was organised by Expertise France in the context of the project to support budget and accounting reforms. This seminar, which was under the high patronage of the Tunisian Minister of Finance and the European Union Ambassador, emphasised the relevance of this reform in the response to the social and economic challenges currently facing Tunisia.

The vote on the LOB in January 2019 is the culmination of a long process launched by the Tunisian administration and supported by international partners. It demonstrates the awareness of the fact that this budget and accounting management reform provides a direct response to the strong demands for the transparency and effectiveness of public action, which are the foundation of a democratic State.

Since 2012, Expertise France, working closely with French institutional partners such as the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP), the Budget Department, the Public Sector Accounting Standards Council (CNoCP), sectoral ministries and the Court of Auditors, is assisting the Tunisian administration in this process.

Following on from the twinning which launched the experiment with the reform and led to the preparation of this Law, the main objective of this support project, which is financed by the EU with EUR 3.4m, is to support its implementation.
