The 5% Initiative, implemented by Expertise France, is supporting 3 African associations: Positive-Generation, RAME and CéRADIS, for the implementation of community observatories to analyse the healthcare access situation of West and Central Africa countries.
The NGOs met from the 9th to the 13th of March in Douala, Cameroon, during a workshop entitled "Sharing, Exchange and Solidarity", to share experience from the implementation of the various country initiatives in terms of healthcare access monitoring. Participants reiterated the need to pool actions, reinforce visibility and relations with media, and to enhance citizen mobilisation to ensure observatories sustainability.
Positive-Generation, RAME and CéRADIS issued recommendations to the Ministries of Health and Justice of the region, as well as anti-corruption bodies. International organisations such as WHO,, , Roll Back Malaria, BACKUP, the Global Fund or Pepfar, where also called to promote observatories implementation.
