Within the framework of the French-Bahrain initiative on urban planning, requested by the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President François Hollande in August 2014, and outside the Royal delegation visit in Paris on the 8th of September, Sébastien Mosneron Dupin, Expertise France Chief Executive Officer, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa.
This institutional partnership will lead to the implementation of the French-Bahrain Initiative on urban planning through a public-private consortium implemented by Expertise France, with the French engineering firms Arep, Egis, and Setec.
The objective is to assist the General Directorate of Urban Planning (DGPU) of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to reinforce the Directorate in its key role of coordinator of issues associated with land use planning of the island. The project should also lead to the development of a master plan on an area defined in Manama, capital city of Bahrain. The signature of a service agreement will complete this memorandum of understanding.
