Within the framework of the European Unionproject, coordinated by Expertise France in the areas of Justice and Security, a regional ministerial meeting on citizen security was held in Cartagena, Colombia, from the 28th to the 30th of April, and was concluded by the signature of the "Declaration of Cartagena de Indias for the prevention of violence".
Several Deputy Ministers and senior officials of the Public Security, Interior and Justice Ministries from 15 Latin American countries, as well as representatives of the European Union and various other international organisations (United Nations, Inter-American Development Bank, etc.) met on the 28th of April to discuss matters around "the adoption of a comprehensive regional policy model for the prevention of violence and crime".
The meeting led to the signature of the "Declaration of Cartagena de Indias for the prevention of violence" which was aimed at establishing a common framework for signatory countries on citizen security, especially on prevention of violence and ensuring cooperation and exchanges of experience between participatory countries.
